Rheology, stabilisation, and suspension - from a single polymer system.
CarboPrime is ADCHEM's private-label carbomer line — cross-linked polyacrylic acid polymers that thicken, suspend, stabilise, and emulsify across a broad range of topical pharmaceutical and personal-care formulations. At concentrations as low as 0.1–0.5%, CarboPrime grades form transparent, high-viscosity, shear-thinning gels that retain structure at rest and flow under application force.
The CarboPrime portfolio is manufactured to carbomer monograph specifications under USP/NF, Ph.Eur., and BP, ensuring compendial compliance for pharmaceutical product registration across FDA, EMA, and national authority dossier routes. For personal-care applications, the same grades meet the expectations of cosmetic formulators working in regulated markets across MENA, South Asia, and Europe.
CarboPrime 40 is the functional equivalent of the leading global general-purpose carbomer grades — delivering equivalent rheological performance, with full compendial documentation, at regionally competitive pricing from in-region ADCHEM stock.

Where CarboPrime performs.
CarboPrime 40 is a general-purpose carbomer grade — versatile across pharmaceutical and personal-care applications where viscosity, suspension, and gel clarity are required. The grade works across aqueous, hydro-alcoholic, and mixed-solvent systems when appropriately neutralised.
Topical pharmaceutical gels
CarboPrime 40 is a general-purpose carbomer grade — versatile across pharmaceutical and personal-care applications where viscosity, suspension, and gel clarity are required. The grade works across aqueous, hydro-alcoholic, and mixed-solvent systems when appropriately neutralised.
Typical concentration: 0.1 – 0.3%
Oral and topical liquid suspensions
Suspending agent for poorly soluble actives in both oral suspensions and topical formulations. Low carbomer concentrations (0.1–0.5%) provide sufficient yield value to prevent particle settling while maintaining pourability.
Typical concentration: 0.1 – 0.5%
Emulsion stabilisation
Secondary emulsifier and rheology modifier for O/W creams and lotions. Carboprime at 0.1–0.3% in the aqueous phase contributes to emulsion stability, thickens the continuous phase, and imparts the shear-thinning character associated with premium skin-care textures.
Typical concentration: 0.1 – 0.3%
Hand sanitisers & antiseptic gels
The standard gelling system for WHO-formula and commercial alcohol-based hand sanitisers. Carboprime 40 in a 60–70% ethanol system (neutralised with triethanolamine) produces the transparent, stringy gel that defines the category — at 0.4–0.75% use level.
Typical concentration: 0.4 – 0.75%
Personal care — hair styling
Hair gels and styling products — a category where carbomers define the consumer-expected texture. Carboprime 40 delivers the high-clarity, firm-hold gel profile with the stringy, pump-dispensable consistency that hair-care formulators require. Neutralise with NaOH or AMP.
Typical concentration: 0.8 – 1.5%
Mucoadhesive & bioadhesive systems
Carbomers are well-documented mucoadhesive excipients for nasal, vaginal, rectal, and buccal drug delivery. Carboprime 40 provides the interpenetrating network structure that enables mucoadhesion — extending contact time and improving local drug absorption.
Typical concentration: 0.5 – 2.0%
Dosage forms & product types - CarboPrime suitability
Every batch of CarboPrime 40 is tested to the carbomer monograph specifications defined in USP/NF, Ph.Eur., and BP before release. The test panel covers identification, viscosity, pH, loss on drying, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbiological limits — with a Certificate of Analysis issued per batch.
Carbomer monograph NF — pharmacopoeial grade for pharmaceutical use in FDA-regulated markets
Carbomer monograph 01/2012:1299 — pharmacopoeial grade for EMA and European national authority submissions
Carbomer grade per BP monograph — for UK MHRA and Commonwealth regulatory jurisdictions
