One chemistry, taken seriously for 140 years.
The company began in 1886 when chemist Dr. Paul Lohmann started reducing iron oxide to elemental iron in a disused factory in Hamelin. The operation moved to Kirchohsen, now part of Emmerthal, in the 1950s, and a second site was established at Lueneburg in 1972, focused principally on magnesium salts. Production has remained exclusively in Germany throughout.
In pharmaceutical use, mineral salts occupy two distinct positions. Some are active pharmaceutical ingredients in their own right, valued for pharmacological action: potassium, sodium and calcium phosphates in electrolyte correction, iron salts in anaemia, calcium salts in phosphate binding and supplementation. Others are excipients, valued for a technological function. Dr. Paul Lohmann supplies both, which means a single supplier qualification can cover both roles in a formulation.
The portfolio spans inorganic and organic chemistry: phosphates, citrates, sulfates, lactates, gluconates, bisglycinates, malates, glycerophosphates, ascorbates and fumarates, across magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, potassium and sodium, plus trace elements including copper, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, iodine and selenium. Iodine and selenium are also supplied as triturations for safe handling and precise dosing.
Products and quality levels are developed to the customer's requirement, including adaptation of bulk density, wettability, particle size, purity and pH. That is contract development wearing a catalogue's clothing.

LomaChelateX® Mineral Bisglycinates consist of a mineral ion bound to two molecules of the amino acid glycine, forming a ring-like structure with the mineral ion at the centre. This unique structure results in a highly stable compound with strong covalent bonds between the mineral ion and the ligand glycine. Moreover, the chelate structure protects the metal ion from unwanted reactions which ensures effective absorption of the mineral and less gastro-intestinal side-effects.

DPL’s low-endotoxin grades are produced in GMP-certified production facilities designed specifically for this purpose. Thus, Mineral Salts Low in Endotoxins are produced according to their sensitive applications under the strictest conditions including low endotoxin process water.
To meet the highest standards and ensure consistent high quality, validated chromogenic-kinetic Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) tests are used to quantify the endotoxin content of our products.

Primary Use
DPL’s microencapsulated Mineral Salts are separated from their environment at particle level by a capsule made of vegetable fat. The technique of microencapsulation is used to mask the unpleasant original taste of a Mineral Salt used in food and nutritional supplements. In addition, it minimizes possible interactions between the Mineral Salt and the product.
The fat shell of the core-shell particle is gastric juice-resistant. The microencapsulated products are therefore particularly well tolerated.
